Message To start off with I'm going to explain what all I have had done to my car recently...

In August, I took my car to Coz for a TT conversion. He put in new 740 injectors with 300 Degree Fuel Rails, recharged the ac, and did 120k maintenance on the JDM motor. Lots of other things were done but those seem like the only relevant things right now.

On to the problem...

I drove the car from Phoenix to Wichita with no issues and everything seemed great but after a few days I noticed the car was having idle troubles. Basically when the car was warmed up and at idle, the engine would bog down (almost killing it) and you could hear a very loud "clicking" coming form the engine bay. The clicking could be described either an electrical spark or the sound a relay makes. Its not a consistent tapping and it changes in length and intensity.

So, I did a little work on it when it was clicking and discovered that when I unplugged the #4 coil pack it went away (or so I thought). I called Coz and he sent me another coil pack. After installing it the problem went away for about a week or 2 then came back. It really wasn't bothering me too much because work got really busy then the snow came and I wasn't able to drive till just the past few weeks.

Fast forward till last week and I decided to do some more troubleshooting. I pulled off the #4 injector thinking it might be causing the problem and ohmed it out. It was a perfect 11.9 ohms. Great so thats not the problem. Tried pulling the coil pack and sure enough the clicking was still there and the engine bogged down a bit, further evidence it was not the #4 cylinder. It was pretty late by this point so I went to bed and kinda forgot about it till last night.

Last night I went to the store to grab some stuff and while sitting at the light on the way home it started clicking and bogging down. Got into the driveway and popped the hood and it went away, that bastard! I began doing some different crap and then just happened to turn on my AC and sure enough it came back.

I then began tracking the problem again now that I could force it to happen when I turned on the AC and discovered the sound coming from the back of the engine. Its louder on the drivers side and it sounds like its coming from the either the #6 cylinder or something even further back from it. Also, the ac compressor has an issue and is not staying on all the time like it should and the clicking happens whether or not the compressor is on or off as long as the climate control is on.

I am completely stumped as to what it could be since it only happens when the ac is on, only at idle, and only after a decent drive.

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to explain all of what I've ran into so you know where I'm at in the troubleshooting process.

Hopefully someone knows whats going on or can point me in the right direction. Thank you.
